Message from TAN SRI HAMDAN
President and Chief Executive, Ranhil Berhad
Polo, the world's most exclusive team game, was introduced to Malaya by the British colonials in 1902. An elegant past time that is intertwined with the nation's history, polo in Malaysia has come of age with more Malaysia players participating and winning in tournaments around the world. Once regarded a 'gentlemen only' sport, it is heartening to see more lady players who have proven their capability in local and international tournaments.
Much more than a prestigious sport; polo invlves coordination, strategy, risk taking skills - the ability of the players is extremely important as the ball circulates faster than the horses do. These are the abilities which I believe mirror Ranhill's strategies and the way we conduct our business in the global market.
The Ranhill Polo Tournament is an annual event held to provide an avenue for polo players to display their talent and skills in this challenging sport. Due to the overwhelming response from participants of this tournament, now in its third year running, we have extended the duration of four days and included Ranhill Cup in addition to the Ranhill Challenge Trophy to spur the competitive spirit of the players.

While rain affected some of the play, off the field, the entertainment was at its best, with Ranhill providing super cocktails and dinners every evening. One of the highlights was Ning Baizura's performance at the main dinner evening.
The prize-giving was also organised as a social event for the first time. The club's Polo Awards for 2004 were also presented during this event.
Thank you to Tan Sri Hamdan and Ranhill Berhad for a wonderful tournament.
